The Kwathu Upgrade: Leading Legacy – HerStory Edition was a special workshop series dedicated to celebrating Women’s History Month.
This week-long event aimed to empower and equip young female creatives, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Africa with essential skills across digital, entrepreneurial, creative, and advocacy domains.
Through interactive workshops, mentorship sessions, and networking opportunities, participants gained valuable insights, tools, and resources to thrive in their entrepreneurial endeavors and drive positive change in their communities.
Dates
March 25th to March 29th, 2024
Target Audience:
The workshop welcomed women of all ages and backgrounds interested in enhancing their online safety skills, with priority given to individuals from underserved communities and marginalized groups.
Workshop Format:
The workshop was conducted online via Microsoft Teams and comprised of the following components:
- Panel Discussions: We partnered with Bants2Business for a panel session on African Women’s participation in digital transformation.
- Interactive Workshop Sessions:
- Entrepreneurial Skills Development workshop session by SME Growth Lab Africa.
- Creative expressions workshop with Oasis Brands experts.
- Advocacy and Leadership Session in partnership with Ntha Foundation.
- Digital Empowerment Training conducted in partnership with Kwathu Kollective.
- Networking Opportunities: Participants were given the chance to connect with like-minded individuals and build supportive networks.
Statistics:
Applications were received from 98 individuals representing 14 countries: South Africa, Nigeria, Benin, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Lesotho, Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Conclusion:
Participants emerged from the Leading Legacy Week with enhanced digital, entrepreneurial, creative, and advocacy skills, empowering them to succeed as entrepreneurs and change-makers. Increased confidence, motivation, and a strengthened network of support enabled participants to overcome challenges and seize opportunities in their entrepreneurial journey. The workshop series contributed to fostering a culture of female empowerment and entrepreneurship in Malawi, driving economic growth and social progress.
