A Landmark Opportunity for DSA

DSA’s selection as one of the 30 innovative enterprises from across Africa is a testament to our commitment to equipping young people with the skills necessary for the African and global job markets. The 2024 Policy Hackathon, themed “Innovations in Youth Skilling and Employability,” seeks to identify and engage pioneering solutions that address the critical challenge of youth employability on the continent.

Out of 244 applications, only 30 enterprises were chosen to participate in this transformative event. This year’s focus is on education under the theme “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century,” where the continent is called upon to review and understand the skills required for the evolving markets.

We are proud to announce that Victor C. Gondwe, our Chief Operating Officer (COO), will be representing DSA at this important event. Victor’s leadership and experience in driving digital skills initiatives will bring valuable insights to the discussions on youth skilling and employability. His participation underscores our commitment to actively engaging in the development of policies that will shape the future of youth empowerment in Africa.

What to Expect at the Event

The event will span three days, from August 26 to 28, 2024. The agenda is packed with networking opportunities, panel discussions, and collaborative sessions where the selected youth enterprises will share their innovative approaches to skilling and employment. These enterprises will engage in dialogues on how to effectively transfer competencies at scale and meet the demands of the job market.

Key highlights of the event include:

  • Policy Design Sessions: Participants will engage in collaborative policy design sessions, ensuring that youth voices are at the forefront of shaping policies that directly impact their futures.
  • Networking Opportunities: DSA will have the chance to connect with other like-minded organizations, policymakers, and potential partners, broadening our impact and reach.
  • Showcasing Innovations: Each enterprise will present their innovative solutions to a broader audience, gaining insights and feedback that could help refine and scale their initiatives.

DSA is eager to contribute to these discussions and learn from fellow participants. We believe that our experience and initiatives in digital skills training will add significant value to the policy conversations, and we are excited about the possibilities this hackathon holds for the future of youth employability in Africa.

Looking Ahead

As we head to Kigali, we remain committed to our mission of empowering Africa’s youth through digital education. This hackathon is not just an event but a critical milestone in our journey to create lasting impact and sustainable change.

Stay tuned for updates from Kigali as we embark on this exciting journey, representing DSA and championing the cause of youth skilling and employability in Africa.
