In celebration of International ICT Day 2024, Digital Skills for Africa in partnership with Girl Up (UN Foundation) has organised a workshop on “Online Safety for Women”. This workshop is a collaborative initiative, and it is fully sponsored by the Ntha Foundation.
Workshop Overview:
The workshop aims to empower women with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the online world safely and confidently. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, participants will learn about online threats, privacy protection, and effective strategies for staying safe online.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness about the importance of online safety for women.
- Provide practical guidance on securing personal devices and accounts.
- Equip participants with skills to recognize and respond to online threats, including cyberbullying and harassment.
- Foster digital literacy and critical thinking skills to evaluate online content.
- Empower women to advocate for their digital rights and seek support when needed.

Workshop Format:
The workshop will be conducted in virtual format, allowing virtual participation to accommodate diverse preferences and accessibility needs. The workshop will consist of the following components:
Interactive Presentations: Expert speakers will deliver presentations on topics such as online privacy, cybersecurity, and digital literacy.
Panel Discussions: Panels comprising representatives from Digital Skills for Africa, Girl Up, and other relevant organizations will discuss key challenges and opportunities for women in the digital space.
Hands-on Exercises: Participants will engage in practical exercises and simulations to apply the knowledge gained during the workshop.
Q&A Sessions: Opportunities will be provided for participants to ask questions and seek clarification from experts.
Networking Opportunities: Participants will have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals and build supportive networks.
Target Audience:
The workshop is open to women of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in enhancing their online safety skills. Priority will be given to individuals from underserved communities and marginalized groups.
