EDTECH@UNIMA 2024: Conference Overview

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming EdTech@UNIMA2024 Conference, set to take place on Thursday 16th May and Friday 17th May at the prestigious Economics Building, University of Malawi. This two-day event promises to be an exciting opportunity for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking within the realm of educational technology (EdTech).

Who Will Attend?

The conference will bring together a diverse array of stakeholders passionate about the intersection of education and technology. We have extended invitations to government officials, potential EdTech investors, students, lecturers, and representatives from various media houses (both TV and radio). This eclectic mix of attendees ensures a vibrant and dynamic exchange of ideas throughout the event.

Highlights of Conference Activities

Day 1 of the conference will kick off with research paper presentations, providing a platform for scholars and researchers to showcase their latest findings in the field of EdTech. Additionally, attendees can explore exhibitions featuring innovative EdTech solutions and participate in presentations on topical issues such as Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, Funding Opportunities for Technology and Innovations in Malawi, and a workshop on Open Distance E-Learning (ODeL).

Day 2 will continue the momentum with a workshop specifically focused on ODeL, allowing participants to delve deeper into this increasingly relevant educational model. Presentations on topical issues, further exhibitions, and a ‘Meet and Greet’ session will round out the day’s activities, fostering opportunities for networking and collaboration.

Preparing Your Exhibition or Presentation

Participants have the option to showcase their EdTech innovations through presentations or demonstrations. Whether presenting or demonstrating your EdTech solution, please inform us of your requirements in terms of space and supporting materials. We are committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure your exhibition or presentation is a success.

Please note that touring of the exhibit is free, but each exhibiting delegate will be required to pay a registration fee of MK15,000 to contribute towards conference logistics.

All delegates (touring and exhibiting) will have the option to pay MK16,000 per day for lunch and refreshments. Additionally, there is an optional payment of MK20,000 for the exclusive EdTech@UNIMA2024 golf shirt.

However, we are pleased to offer exemptions on registration fees for students and UNIMA staff participating in exhibitions or presentations.

About the Author

Nthanda

Founder of Digital Skills for Africa (alongside other organisations and initiatives), Nthanda is a digital media specialist and a graduate student based in Michigan, USA – pursuing an MBA at Michigan State University – Eli Broad College of Business, specialising in Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics. She recently completed her Master of Science in Entrepreneurship, studying the entrepreneurial opportunities posited by Africa's Digital Transformation, and how Africans can better model Information Management Systems for Development. Her Bachelor of Social Science double-majoring Economics & Demography, specialised in the socio-economic impacts of Women's Empowerment. Nthanda teaches Digital Media, Marketing, and Analytics.
